The Ultimate Guide to Planning a Trip to Briggs Ranch Golf Club

Briggs Ranch Golf Club | San Antonio, Texas

Looking for a club to fill in the gaps of the shoulder or winter seasons? We recommend Briggs Ranch Golf Club, the southern-most destination in the network, nestled in the picturesque Texas Hill Country just a half hour from downtown San Antonio. With its stunning course, well-appointed facilities, and unique cuisine, Briggs Ranch is the perfect destination for any golf enthusiast and groups of any size.

Briggs Ranch Golf Club boasts a championship 18-hole course designed by master architect Tom Fazio (who also designed Victoria National). The course features rolling hills, firm and fast green fairways, and breathtaking views of the Hill Country. You’ll enjoy the challenging but fair layout, with a variety of tee boxes to accommodate all skill levels.

Inside the full-service clubhouse at Briggs Ranch you’ll find the golf shop, locker rooms, bourbon bar (featuring rare finds such as Blanton’s, W.L. Weller, and Pappy Van Winkle), and a restaurant featuring unique cuisine that celebrates the flavors of Texas. The club also offers 15 casitas (totaling 60 master suites), complete with all the comforts of home.

Making the Most of Your Trip

Briggs Ranch Golf Club is perfect for a wide range of use cases, from friend trips to entertaining clients to private tournaments or clinics. The club's professional staff can help you plan your event down to the last detail, including arranging private clinics and golf lessons.

The club's facilities are also perfect for business meetings, with the Mixed Grill seating up to 35, and the Wine Room seating 8 at a board-room style table. (The property is so well-suited for meetings, Dormie Network even uses it ourselves.)

Bringing just your foursome? Choose any casita on the property, though we recommend the Premier Casita for its proximity to the lit putting green and mobile Truck Stop bar and taco stand.

Briggs Ranch is a top recommendation across the network for a casual group trip due to the friendly course and variety of evening activities (axe throwing, cornhole, horseshoes, and even a mariachi band on request). About the Course

Briggs Ranch's course is a masterpiece of design, with challenges for every level of golfer. The course is known for its fast greens, strategically placed bunkers, and scenic views with natural landscaping. The club also boasts a world-class practice facility, including a driving range, putting green, and short game area.

Built in 2001, Fazio’s design features Zoysia tees, fairways, and rough, and TifEagle greens (completely renovated from the original Bentgrass in 2022). The 18-hold course measures up to 7,247 yards, with a rating of 75.7 and a slope of 139.

The club's agronomy team is dedicated to maintaining the course to the highest standards, with a focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship. From water conservation to integrated pest management, the club is dedicated to preserving the beauty of the Texas Hill Country.

All About the Facilities and Lodging

Briggs Ranch offers luxurious facilities that are perfect for relaxing after a day on the course. The cathedral main dining room seats up to 40, and the more casual Mixed Grill also features a lounge area, TVs, and a tucked-away bourbon bar.

Rounding out the facilities are 15 casitas (60 master suites), each offering a unique view of the course. You’ll find the casitas nestled into the tree line near the starting holes, within walking distance of the clubhouse. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by classic Southwestern accents, lounge great room, wet bar stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks, and a walk-out patio on which to relax after wrapping up a match.

All About the Unique Cuisine

At Briggs Ranch, food is an experience. The club's restaurant features a menu that celebrates the flavors of Texas, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From the signature Texas-style barbecue to the inventive cocktails, the cuisine at Briggs Ranch is not to be missed.

Looking for a unique way to entertain guests? We recommend the Chef’s Table Experience dinner with wine pairing. Each menu is crafted in collaboration with the hosting member and is presented with an element of surprise. Feel free to ask questions: the team seeks to introduce members at the table to new ingredients, preparations, and flavor profiles.

“An intimidating hole to start on! My advice for is to find the fairway off the tee box. Simple advice but it works.” – Tucker Allgood, Lead Assistant Golf Professional
