While the next available date for a course to host a U.S. Open isn't until 2043, Dormie Network’s Victoria National in Newburgh, Indiana has earned a spot on Golf Digest's list of contenders.

Renowned course architect David McLay Kidd visited the site that will become Dormie Network's GrayBull Club in Maxwell, Nebraska to determine how he and his team would design the course. After just one visit, he felt like he was reading a familiar fairytale.

With the construction of GrayBull, American golf courses continue to learn from the past while building for the future.

No surprise here – Victoria National has secured a spot on Golf Digest's list of the most challenging golf courses in America.

And though this is the first time David McLay Kidd has worked in Nebraska, the native Scot is in many ways the perfect choice for the project, considering the Bandon Dunes course he designed in southern Oregon soon after Coore and Crenshaw crafted Sand Hills is equally as important an instigator of the site-driven revival.
